  1. I was pretty excited to run across this little cell phone magnet. I have been avoiding buying the car mount for my phone since the only one that works with my cell phone case costs over $50.00. I really do like this little magnet. I do have three minor complaints though.

    1. The ugly metal piece on my phone. This system requires that you stick a piece of metal on to the back of your phone (or phone case) in order for the magnet to have something to grab. I understand the mechanics but it’s still pretty ugly. I wear my phone on my belt via a belt clip and it’s just not that fashionable to have a shiny reflective surface blinding all your friends in the summer sun. This is not an exaggeration.

    2. The magnet is weaker than I thought it would be. Don’t get me wrong, if you don’t have anything plugged into your phone, this magnet can hold on to it pretty well. I’ve even been on some pretty rough dirt roads without issue. However, as soon as you plug something into the phone e.g. car charger, 3.5mm stereo jack/headphone jack, your phone is going to fall of at the first turn or pot hole. Granted, I have a heavier than normal phone (Motorola Droid). I suppose that if you had a lighter phone, you might have better success.

    3. The magnet makes my phone think that it’s in the media dock. When I first place my phone onto the magnet, my phone goes into media mode. This is because the media dock that Motorola sells for this phone also uses a magnet to actuate the media dock setting on the phone. This simply means that I have to press the “home” button to get back to the home screen but I would prefer that it didn’t do that. Please understand that this is only an issue with the Motorola Droid and as far as I know, shouldn’t be a problem for most, if not all, other phones.

All in all, I am pleased with this purchase and I have already recommended it to several friends. Give it a try, you might just like it.
